Facts About Vincent Van Gogh

1853-1890

• Vincent Van Gogh was born in Zundert in the Netherlands.
• His birthday was 30th March 1853.
• He died aged 37 in 1890.
• He had two brothers and three sisters.
• Vincent Van Gogh was named after his grandfather.
• He created more than 2000 pieces of art but he only sold one in his life time.

As part of my online art lesson about Vincent Van Gogh we had to copy one of his paintings. I chose to paint Wheat Field With Cypresses in gouache as I have painted this picture before in oil pastels and felt I could do a better job of the sky.

I think the sky turned out better than my last attempt as I got a lot more detail in the painting. I enjoyed using the gouache as I was able to create a lot of texture with different brush strokes.
